BigBasin Colloid & dispersion stabilization platform

Applications

Injectables, cosmetics, fragrance

A single dispersion technology reaches several markets. With injectable formulation of poorly soluble drugs as the ultimate goal, it also applies to cosmetics and fragrance.

01

Injectables & drug delivery

Dispersing poorly soluble drugs in water without molecular modification, toward injectable forms.

Many drugs dissolve poorly in water, making them hard to formulate and often forcing chemical modification such as prodrugs or salt formation. BigBasin works toward turning poorly soluble drugs into stable aqueous dispersions through colloidalization and dispersion, without altering the molecule. We choose carriers, including biodegradable polymers such as PLA, to fit the goal, meeting particle-size, stability, and safety requirements step by step, with injectable formulations as the ultimate target.

Examples (DRAFT)

  • [DRAFT] Aqueous injectable dispersion of a poorly soluble drug (indication TBD, research stage)

Cosmetics

Stably dispersing and encapsulating sensitive actives, releasing them gradually on the skin.

Actives such as retinol and vitamin C derivatives are sensitive to light and oxygen, and they readily oxidize and lose potency inside a formulation. BigBasin's dispersion and encapsulation technology forms these actives into a stable colloid, shields them from the surrounding environment, and releases them at a controlled rate in use. This improves both formulation stability and the delivery efficiency of the active.

Examples (DRAFT)

  • [DRAFT] Retinol-stabilizing capsule (product name TBD)
  • [DRAFT] Vitamin C derivative time-release serum (product name TBD)

Fragrance

Holding volatile aroma molecules to design longevity and a release profile.

For fragrance, the value lies in how long and how a scent unfolds. Encapsulating highly volatile aroma molecules in nanoparticles can temper the initial burst and modulate release over time, improving longevity. We work toward shaping the release curve, from top note to base note, by tuning the encapsulation structure.

Examples (DRAFT)

  • [DRAFT] Long-lasting fragrance capsule (target use under discussion)
